Why I’m building this
I’ve been drawing on and off for most of my life.
And for a long time, I felt stuck, not because I wasn’t improving, but because I could never quite stay there.
I’d put the time in, get back up to speed, and start to feel competent again, like I was finally ready to move beyond studies and start creating something of my own.
And then life would get in the way.
Work. Responsibilities. Everything else pulling me away from it.
When I came back, it felt like starting over again. Always the student. Never quite getting past that point.
But something interesting started to happen over time.
Each time I came back, I got up to speed a little quicker, things made a bit more sense.
Until eventually, in more recent years, something shifted.
Not because I’d suddenly found the “perfect” method…
But because I’d begun to understand how to learn.
Learning different approaches, from sight-size and Bargue to comparative measurement and construction, and realising something important:
there isn’t one way to learn.
And once you understand that, you don’t go back to square one anymore.
You can step away when life gets busy, and come back without starting from scratch.
And that’s what this academy is built around.
Not a single “perfect” method.
But a way of helping you find what works for you, and actually make progress that sticks.
Because I know how frustrating it is to feel like you’re close… but never quite moving forward.
