Different focal lengths and camera distances can subtly change the apparent size of the nose, jaw, eyes, ears and overall head shape. If those distortions are copied without understanding them, the drawing can start to feel slightly “off” even when the measurements seem correct.

The Lens Lab helps you compare different lens effects so you can make better decisions when using photo reference. Use it to study how perspective changes the features, how close-up images exaggerate form, and why a more natural viewing distance often produces a calmer, more reliable reference.

It is especially useful for portrait drawing, head studies, photography-based reference, cast drawing comparisons and understanding the difference between what the camera sees and what the eye expects.
